The recipient of a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the International University in Germany, Florian "Flo" Leibert is the founder and chief cloud officer of D2IQ. Florian Leibert started the company with coworkers on projects based on Apache Mesos. He also facilitated the first real-time open-source Mesos application at Airbnb.

A cluster manager that efficiently isolate and share resources across distributed applications or frameworks in large-scale clustered environments, Mesos has been used by online marketplace and networking services such as Airbnb and Twitter as well as many other companies such as Xogito and Netflix. Mesos is compatible with serving a wide range of useful applications on a dynamically shared collection of nodes.
Because of its ability to provide efficient resource allocation when working with Amazon’s EC2, Netflix has applied Apache Mesos in the Mantis project. Mantis is a real-time stream processing application platform that was created to enable Netflix’s engineering team to access real-time events and develop applications on them. In an attempt to eliminate the operational overhead associated with managing cluster of machines, Apache Mesos was integrated into Mantis to abstract clusters into shared pools of computer resources. Currently, Mantis is capable of processing event streams of about 8 million events per second.
